Summer High School Graduation Celebrates 33 Additional Scholars

The Compton Unified School District Graduating Class of 2023 got a little bit larger, thanks to the hard work and perseverance of 33 exceptional scholars.

In a recent commencement ceremony at Dominguez High School, these 33 students celebrated earning their high school diplomas and completing their Compton Unified School District journey.

Representing Centennial, Compton, and Centennial High Schools, each student was congratulated by Superintendent Darin Brawley and presented their paperwork. With friends, family, and school officials cheering them on, the scholars achieved what they had set out to do. One student held up a sign summing it all up: “He believed he could, sooo he did!!!”

In 2023, Compton Unified School District celebrated the graduations of more than 1,100 scholars, representing a 90+% graduation rate, with more than 80% college acceptance rate.

The 90% graduation rate is higher than the California state average, and beats Los Angeles County, Long Beach, Lynwood, and LAUSD rates.
