Compton Success Profiles: Lydia Perez

Media Release

Meet Lydia Perez, Compton High School Class of 2023 Salutatorian. She will be attending University of California, Berkeley in the fall, majoring in Architecture.

Lydia’s interest in Architecture began in the fourth grade when a teacher created an interesting math problem. Her father works in construction and helped build her passion for Architecture.

She’s been attending Compton schools her whole life, starting at Laurel Elementary, then going to Compton Early College High School, and finally transferring to Compton High School her junior year.

In school, one of Lydia’s biggest challenges was trying to balance school studies, sports, and working a part-time job. But she said that she got a lot of support from her teachers and counselors who were always there to help out.

For Lydia, the best part of attending high school was meeting all her friends and figuring out what she wanted to do with her life. She values her education because she knows it will get her anywhere she wants to go.

Lydia Perez is another Compton Success Story.
