Media Release
Meet Kaitlyn Gomez, Compton Early College High School Class of 2023 graduate. She will be attending University of California, San Diego in the fall, studying Physics, with a specialty in Astrophysics. She plans on getting her PhD. in Astrophysics.
“I’ve always had a passion for physics, even before I knew it was physics,” she explained. “It’s super cool studying the galaxy, black holes, and all kinds of space stuff.”
She has attended Compton Unified schools for the past five years, going to Laurel Elementary, then Compton Early College High School. She says that Compton schools have a great support system, with counselors and therapists, who are there to help students when they’re struggling academically or personally.
The best thing about attending high school for Kaitlyn was the Girl’s Build Change Agents club, which was all about women’s empowerment and support. She participated in the club all four years of high school and did many fun activities through the group.
Kaitlyn Gomez is another Compton Success Story.
