Compton Success Profiles: Heaven Mitchell

Media Release

Meet Heaven Mitchell, Compton High School Class of 2023 graduate. She will be attending California State University, Long Beach in the fall, majoring in Kinesiology. She got injured playing basketball while in high school and had to go to physical therapy, forming her interest in the field.

Heaven grew up in Compton and went to Dickison Elementary School, Kelly Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School, then finished at Compton High School.

She says the biggest challenge she faced in school was dealing with COVID and distance learning. Heaven really missed the hand’s on interaction with her teachers during that time.

But she says she appreciated the community of Compton High School, and how her fellow students stuck together and stayed bonded through it all.

While in high school, Heaven stayed active, playing basketball, running track, and being a cheerleader. “The best part about school was just staying after school with your favorite people and doing something you love. It made you happy and made you want to come to school more.”

Heaven Mitchell is another Compton Success Story.
