Compton Unified School District Announces Plans To Open The New School Year With Entirely In Person Learning
Jul 12, 2021

(COMPTON, CA) The Compton Unified School District today announced that it will open its new school year on August 19, 2021 with in-person, on campus learning for all students. The decision aligns with county and state health agency guidance related to return to in-person instruction for students.

“We are excited to welcome students back for an in-person launch of the 2021-2022 school year,” said Superintendent Darin Brawley. “We have over 2,000 students on our campuses this summer participating in in-person learning and enrichment activities, which has been a great experience for students and employees.”

The District will continue to plan and monitor the California and LA County Department of Public Health guidance as the opening of the school year approaches, and will be communicating with families as to what to expect and how best to prepare for in-person instruction.

This is a huge and encouraging step toward a school year in which we get to fully and safely enjoy the unparalleled benefits of students learning and engaging with teachers and each other in the classroom,” said President Micah Ali. "This is a time of great joy indeed!”
