  • CUSD embraces our diverse community, recognizing it as our greatest asset. We are dedicated to diminishing prejudice and fostering mutual understanding among individuals and groups across our schools.

What is Hate Motivated Behavior?

  • Every student has the right to be protected from "hate-motivated" behavior. Behavior or statements that degrade an individual based on his/her race, ethnicity, culture, heritage, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, physical/mental attributes, or religious beliefs or practices shall not be tolerated and may be considered “hate-motivated” speech or "hate-motivated" behavior.

How to Report a Complaint

  • Students or parents/guardians who perceive any instance of hate-motivated behavior towards a student are strongly urged to promptly notify a teacher, the principal, or another staff member. It is advised that complaints be directed to the school's administrator without delay, either verbally or in writing. Upon receipt of such report, the administrator will conduct an investigation into the allegations and communicate the findings along with any corrective measures to be implemented as a result of the investigation.

If you are unhappy with the school's response, you can file a uniform complaint with the Office of Equity.
