I am a long time resident of the City of Compton, I grew up in Compton, attended Compton schools and graduated from Compton High School. Having great love for community, I started working at Compton City Hall at the age of 16. Volunteering and working at City Hall helped to fulfill my natural desire to help others, I have always felt that helping others is my calling. My love for people and my community kept me a loyal and trusted public servant for 40 years. I served in various administrative positions in the Mayor and City Council’s office, and spent my final years in the Compton Water Department; along with my regular duties, I served as staff for the Compton Commission for Woman for 25 years of my tenure where it was the commissions goal to make a difference in the lives of girls and women in the community. In February of 2016, I was unanimously appointed by the Mayor and City Council members to be the Councilperson to represent the district that I grew up in, the great 3rd District. After my one year appointment I was elected to serve as the Councilwoman from July 2017 thru June 2021. I have a total of 45 years of service to the City of Compton. While on the City Council, I was appointed to serve as Compton’s representative on the Compton Creek Mosquito Abatement District Board, as well as the Metropolitan Water District Board. I still have a heart to serve and I was appointed by the City Council to continue my service as a Board Member for Metropolitan Water District, on MWD I serve as the Chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Affordability Committee, Member − Executive Committee; Legal and Claims Committee; Ad Hoc Committee on Facilities Naming; Ad Hoc Committee on Policy Impacts of Third Party Changes to Member Agency Boundaries; Ad Hoc Committee on Bay-Delta Negotiations Alternate - Ad Hoc Subcommittee on Equal Employment Opportunity Investigations. I was appointed by Supervisor Holly Mitchell to serve as a Member of the Board of Trustees for the Compton Creek Mosquito Abatement District. I am the mother of 3 children and I have 11 jewels that affectionately call me Granny.
