The Compton Unified School District Early Childhood Education Program:

1. welcomes the enrollment of children with disabilities.
2. understands the requirement to make accommodations for children with disabilities.
3. implements those accommodations.
4. refrains from religious instruction or worship

Environment Rating Scale and Other Quality Program Tools

A part of the curriculum of the ECE program utilizes ECERS to facilitate children's learning through a well-planned environment. As such, classrooms are organized in a way that permits children to quickly identify the proper places for all materials and to learn a daily routine that includes picking up after themselves. The Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale (ECERS) is an assessment tool to identify areas of strength and areas needing improvement in a classroom environment. The ECERS is administered in the Fall and Spring of each year and results in an Action Plan to improve the quality of the program and the classroom environment.

CLASS – Class Assessment Scoring System
The Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) is an observation instrument used to assess instructional quality in PK – 12 classrooms. It measures teacher-student interactions, that support a child’s learning across dimensions such as emotional support, classroom organization and instruction support, with the goal of improving student outcomes.

QSLA – Quality Start Los Angeles
QSLA is Los Angeles’ county wide Quality Improvement System (QIS) designed to empower early learning providers to build upon and improve the quality of care they provide to children birth to five. The program helps families understand what makes an early learning program effective and how to find the right program for their child.
