​SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization that equips students with the technical, leadership, and workplace skills necessary for success in trade, technical, and skilled service careers. Through hands-on training and competitive events, SkillsUSA fosters excellence, responsibility, and innovation among its members.​

Compton Unified School District proudly participates in SkillsUSA, providing students with opportunities to showcase their talents on regional and state stages. In recent competitions, CUSD students have excelled in categories such as T-shirt design, audio production, and first aid/CPR, earning top placements and advancing to the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skill Conference in Ontario, California. These achievements highlight CUSD's commitment to career and technical education, empowering students to thrive in high-demand industries.

 

In its very first year competing at the SkillsUSA California State Competition, Compton Unified School District made an unforgettable debut, bringing home top honors and making district history. Angelina Ramirez from Dominguez High School earned a Gold Medal in First Aid/CPR, showcasing exceptional skill and composure under pressure. Meanwhile, Marcus Schorea and Jordan Billberry from Compton High School captured Gold in Audio Production, demonstrating creativity, technical excellence, and teamwork. Adding to this incredible success, Angelina Ramirez was also elected as a SkillsUSA California State Officer, a prestigious leadership role that highlights her dedication, talent, and drive to make a difference. Compton Unified’s outstanding performance is a testament to the hard work of its students, educators, and Career Technical Education programs, setting a strong foundation for continued excellence in the years to come.
