Maintenance Department

The Maintenance, Grounds, Operations, and Transportation Departments have four primary functions. First, is to ensure that all District buildings are maintained in a state of “Good Repair” by any one of the following actions or a combination of these approaches:

  1. Ensure the site plant staff conducts maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis
  2. Ensure projects are implemented to correct repair conditions through the Deferred Maintenance Plan 
  3. Utilize the Districts Routine Maintenance Plan to address certain repair conditions or
  4. Access the States Emergency Grant Repair Program – ERP to fix School Emergency Necessary Repairs.

Additionally, the transportation needs of students and staff are facilitated through the Transportation Department and the repair of the Districts fleet of vehicles is handled by this department as well. Finally, our Operations Unit provides support to our site plant staff to ensure that schools and district buildings are maintained in a clean and aesthetically pleasing manner.


Maintenance, Grounds, Operations and Transportation Goals

  1. Develop a 5 year Deferred Maintenance Plan 
  2. Effect the implementation of the Williams Emergency Repair Program
  3. Justify and make recommendations for adequate staffing 
  4. Propose new vehicle purchase/rental program 
  5. Propose and effect a new face lift proposal for the 429 Oleander Site 
  6. Implement a District Internal Inspection System using the IEI Instrument 
  7. Develop a Deferred Maintenance Budgeting Accounting System 
  8. Ensure 90% of schools receive a “Good” rating on LACOE Facilities Inspections 
  9. Effect a plan to process ERF Applications as follows: 
    1. Reimbursements – 100
    2. New Grant Projects – 100
  10. Effect a 50% reduction in outstanding Maintenance Requests - by September 1, 2007 
  11. Eliminate the HVAC problems at District school sites - by July 31, 2007
  12. Access Funding for playground equipment and repairs 
  13. Ensure installation of telephones and locks at modernized school sites 
  14. Implement a Public Relations Plan to improve the image of the division - by February 1, 2007 
  15. Obtain internet connectivity for the 429 Oleander Site 
  16. Purchase New Uniforms for all Employees 
  17. Institute a School Makeover Plan for Targeted Maintenance Repairs
