Roosevelt Elementary
Principal's Message
Even though Roosevelt Elementary met its Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), based on the state’s criteria, we remain an underperforming school. If we meet our AYP a second year, we will come out of Program Improvement. A tutorial program for identified students in need of extra support in Language Arts and Math was continued. A bilingual counselor, a project facilitator, and a clerk were added to our staff. Our Assistant Principal, Ms. Holloway, retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
The renovation of our school continued this past year. Thirteen remodeled classrooms were occupied in the “new” administration building. The remaining classrooms were refurbished during the end of the year and summer. All of the classrooms now have air conditioning.
The auditorium was also upgraded with new light fixtures, floor tile, and upgraded bathrooms. It is now much brighter with the new coat of paint. The completion target date is February 2005. You, the citizens, are to be commended for approving the construction bond. On behalf of the students and staff, a very special “thank you!”.
