Principal’s Message

Welcome to Caldwell Street Elementary School, the home of the Cougars, where student success is our number-one goal. We had a successful and enjoyable school year in 2003-04. Reaching our goal of academic excellence is a joint effort between students, parents, teachers, the local community, and our administration. We can chieve more by working together.

Our staff is working hard to improve students’ reading skills schoolwide. Our goal is to elp every child read at the appropriate grade level. Our students are spending more time reading at school, and we ask parents to read aloud with their children more often at home. Good reading skills require repeated practice of various passages. Our staff welcomes parents and family members to volunteer in our classrooms and library. The children and staff would love to see you helping out on our campus.

For the past five years, we have been achieving above-average scores at every grade level on the California Standards Test in reading. Fifty percent of our students are reading and comprehending literature at their respective grade level. Caldwell Street Elementary School is committed to increasing student reading ability and ensuring that all students grasp the importance of language fluency. We will continue to focus on improving students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities, algebraic thinking, knowledge about statistics, probability, measurement, and geometry.
