Information about Students:
English Language Learners
Addressing the educational needs of Compton High's unique student population has required the development of a two-pronged Master Schedule offering college-preparatory core academic classes utilizing both differentiated and SDAIE (Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English) instructional strategies.
In compliance with the CUSD Master Plan for English Language Learners, EL students are placed in English Language Development (ELD) program continuum. Academic and program placement recommendations are based on test data including, but not limited to: the California English Language Development Test (CELDT), standardized testing data, cumulative record, and other assessments.
Students new to the country are placed in a double-blocked ELD program. Compton High School offers three levels of ELD: Beginning ELD, Intermediate ELD, or Advanced ELD.
