GEOGRAPHICAL, SOCIAL, CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL AND ECONOMIC COMMUNITY BASE

Compton High School (CHS) is one of three (3) comprehensive high schools in the Compton Unified School District (CUSD). Compton High School has a student population of approximately 2,500 students and over 175 staff members (100 certificated and 75 classified). Compton High School is located in downtown Compton just south of the Compton City Government Offices and Courthouse Complex. The city of Compton has a population of approximately 98,000. Demographic data indicates that a high percentage of Compton residents are impacted by poverty with household incomes at or near the federal poverty level.

Reflective of this economic classification, Compton High School qualifies as school-wide Title I school; approximately 90.0% of our students qualify for the federally subsidized free or reduced lunch program. Less than 10% of CHS students have parents that have completed college and 48% of Compton High students report that their parents did not complete high school.

Compton High School receives the majority of its student population from 3 feeder middle schools: Davis Middle School, Enterprise Middle School, and Walton Middle School.
