Compton Unified Board of Trustees Passes Resolution to Commemorate the Contributions of Hispanic People
Sep 13, 2019

The Compton Unified Board of Trustees has passed a Resolution to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 – October 15, 2019. The resolution acknowledges the great contributions of people of Hispanic origin, stating that “people of Hispanic descent were an integral part both of the early exploration of the continents of North and South America, beginning with the very inception of European contact, and of the eventual European involvement in the settlement, growth, and development of California,” and that “Hispanic Americans have made and continue to make important contributions in all facets of California life – government, business and industry, agriculture, trade and commerce, education, visual and performing arts, science, and sports,”

The District and its schools will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through various celebrations and spotlighting both students and the contributions of Hispanic people.
